Snowy Alpine Landscape – Harald Tillberg

Artist: Harald Tillberg

Snowy Alpine Landscape – Harald Tillberg
Antique oil on canvas depicting a snowy Alpine landscape with bright peaks and high‑altitude forests, painted in the Central European tradition of the early twentieth century.

Technical information:

Author: Harald Tillberg
Period: early 1900s
Origin: Germany
Technique: Oil on canvas
Work dimensions: 60 × 80 cm (23.6 × 31.5 in)

Description:
This painting depicts an evocative snowy Alpine landscape, in the Mittenwald area, dominated by the Wetterstein mountain range rising under a clear and luminous sky. In the foreground stretches a wide expanse of snow, where the reddish roofs of two small chalets can be seen.

The central part of the work is occupied by a conifer forest, where the fir trees are painted with vertical, compact brushstrokes that suggest depth and compositional rhythm. Behind them rise gentle snow‑covered slopes that lead the eye toward the Alpine peaks, rendered in blue and pearly‑grey tones that evoke the cold, bright atmosphere of the mountain winter.

The composition is built according to a balanced and natural perspective: the snowy plain in the foreground, the forest in the middle area, and finally the mountain range in the background. The chromatic palette is dominated by whites, blues, and deep greens, with delicate tonal variations that convey the clear light of high altitudes.

Available with a 2 cm antique fir‑wood frame, custom‑made in our restoration workshop.
