Pair Of Boules For The Lyonnais Game.
This sport originated in the 18th century in the Lyon region, hence its nickname "boule lyonnaise." It is primarily played in the regions of Lyon, Dauphiné, Savoy, Auvergne, the Pyrenees, and Île-de-France. It was in 1850 that this game was officially recognized as a sport. This practice has been listed in the Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage in France since 2012. Made of hardwood, with very regular and tightly spaced round steel and brass studs. These two boules are decorated in the same way: a double lozenge, a triangle enclosed by a heart, and the number 6 or 9 in a cartouche, all embellished with geometric patterns studded in brass. Late 19th - early 20th century. Manufactured by Manufacture Parisse in Saint Paul de Fenouillet (Pyrénées-Orientales). Diameter: 10 cm. Very good condition. Beautiful patina.
