A magnificent and heavy crystal bust, made by the St. Louis crystalworks. It depicts Pope Pius IX, born Giovanni Maria Mastai-Ferretti, who reigned from 1846 to 1878. This bust was crafted at the French St. Louis crystalworks between approximately 1860 and 1890, using the frosted glass technique. It bears the mark "St. Louis Déposé" on the back. In good condition, with slight signs of wear and a small chip on the top of the head. Nothing serious.
