Liège-style Travel Percussion Pistol, Damascus Barrel And Folding Trigger, Circa 1835–1855
An elegant and authentic percussion travel pistol manufactured in Liège around 1835–1855. It bears the Liège proof mark ELG and is equipped with a magnificent octagonal Damascus steel barrel and a folding trigger, features typical of high-quality civilian firearms produced by Liège gunsmiths in the mid-19th century.
The barrel features a superb damascene pattern that is clearly visible along its entire length. The lock is finely engraved with floral motifs and fitted with an elegant swan-neck hammer. The walnut stock, with its harmonious lines, has retained its beautiful original patina. The entire piece remains in excellent condition, with no restoration.
Thanks to its compact size and folding trigger, this model was intended for travel or personal defense. It perfectly illustrates the craftsmanship of the Liège gunsmiths, who were then considered among the best manufacturers of civilian firearms in Europe.
A fine collector’s item, appealing to both enthusiasts of antique firearms and collectors specializing in 19th-century Liège-made firearms.
