Bronze Virgin And Child – Late 15th / Early 16th Century
Bronze Virgin and Child – Late 15th/Early 16th Century.
Superb chandelier element depicting the Virgin and Child, dating from the late 15th or early 16th century, originating from German workshops.
This piece was cast in bronze using the lost-wax technique. It features finely chiseled hair and a richly stamped garment border, attesting to high-quality craftsmanship. The Christ Child is a later addition.
Dimensions: height 16.1 cm.
The condition is very good. Note: a small hole at the neck, corresponding to an original casting flaw. The piece is enhanced by a beautiful antique patina.
