Gilt Brass Desk Scale/letter Scale - Late 19th Century, Napoleon III Era, With Laurel Wreath Decoration
A rare and elegant polished brass pendulum letter scale, resting on a rectangular base with a cyma molding adorned with a chased laurel frieze. Signed "EW Déposé" for Edmond Widmann, with an enamel (or celluloid) dial graduated from 0 to 100 grams, the movement and base in worked brass decorated with a ribboned frieze. A beautiful display or desk piece, complete and in perfect working order, a testament to the refinement of the late 19th century.
