Shako Troops Of The 1st Hussar Regiment, Type 1812. First Empire.

Felt body, black waxed leather crown; a leather band is sewn to the bottom of the felt, with a brass buckle and prong at the rear, and beneath this buckle, a simple calfskin gusset for easy adjustment. A rounded visor of black patent cowhide. A stamped iron plate on the front depicts a crowned imperial eagle, its base shaped like a shield with the number "1" cut out in the center. A tricolor painted leather cockade is placed above the plate and attached to the body with a staple on each side. Chinstraps: on each side of the shako is a chin strap, composed of a lined sheepskin strip, onto which tin scales are fixed (one scale is missing). The interior lining is made of sheepskin and covered with a thick ecru canvas. Good condition. France. First Empire. Certificate from my collection. Former expert of the Court of Appeal.
