Pierre-albert Leroux (1890-1959), View Of Notre-dame In Paris, Two Winter Views Of A Pond
This artist is best known for his depictions of historical events, particularly his portraits of soldiers and cavalrymen, especially those of the First Empire, most often drawn or watercolored.
Some of his illustrations of the First World War are held at the Spencer Museum of Art, The University of Kansas.
He also made a name for himself as an illustrator of numerous books.
In addition to his historical work, he also painted some landscapes and genre scenes.
Here we present a much more personal work by Leroux, which, through these three watercolors, reveals his great sensitivity to the rendering of nature. These three watercolors, one of which is signed, come from the same sketchbook.
