Maurice Daurat (1880-1969) Stamp Topped With A Cicada Or Cricket Motif, Bronze

Artist: Maurice Daurat (1880-1969)
Maurice Daurat began exhibiting various precious objects in gold, silver, pewter or bronze at the Salons d'Automne and des Artistes Décorateurs from 1918-1919, but it was not until the 1925 Exhibition, where he won a Grand Prix, that his fame grew throughout Europe. He received official orders from the city of Paris for several basins and fountains.
As much a sculptor as a goldsmith, Maurice Daurat's goldwork pieces, numerous and very diverse, both in terms of shapes and materials, are exhibited, among others, at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs and the Musée d'Orsay in Paris, at the Metropolitan Museum in New York and in many private collections.
This charming little cicada or cricket motif, treated here independently and in isolation and serving as a stamp, is signed on the side "M DAURAT".
