Colored Engravings Of Architectural Views Of Paris, Choisy, English School, Early 19th Century

These four colored engravings from the early 19th-century English school depict famous monuments of Paris and Choisy; they are the work of various architects and draftsmen of the British school.
- The Pont au Change.
This is the bridge connecting the Île de la Cité to the Right Bank at the level of the Théâtre du Châtelet. The bridge shown in this engraving is the one built in the 17th century according to the plans of Jean Androuet du Cerceau, restored in 1740, painted by Hubert Robert on several occasions (an example in the Carnavalet Museum in Paris), and then in the early 19th century by Corot (Paris, Carnavalet Museum).
It was later destroyed, and the current bridge was rebuilt under Napoleon III.

Augustus Charles Pugin (1768-1832) was an English architect and draftsman of Franco-Swiss origin.
Thomas Talbot Bury (1809-1877), an English architect and draftsman, worked with Augustus Charles Pugin from 1824 to 1830. - Palace of the Legion of Honour.
This view of the Hôtel de Salm, built by Pierre Rousseau (1751-1829) between 1782 and 1787, shows the double-colonnade façade framing a triumphal arch, adorning the entrance on the rue de Lille, Paris 7 arrondissement.
It became the Palace of the Legion of Honour in 1804.

- School of Medicine.
This building, the headquarters of the School of Medicine and the university library at 12 rue de l'Ecole-de-Médecine, Paris 6^e arrondissement, was built by the architect Jacques Gondoin (1737-1818) between 1769 and 1774 with a neoclassical façade inspired by ancient Greek and Roman architecture.
The street façade is a long colonnade without projecting bays, surmounted by a simply molded portico.
In the center of the portico, the long bas-relief executed by Pierre-François Berruer (1733-1797) depicts the glory of King Louis XV; It was transformed during the Revolution into an allegory of Charity.

- Wooden Bridge of Choisy-Le-Roi.
This beautiful engraving depicting the wooden bridge of Choisy is by Sears Fenner after a drawing by Joseph Nash (1809-1878), a British watercolorist and lithographer specializing in the representation of historical buildings.
An identical copy of this enhanced engraving is in the collections of the departmental museum of the Château de Sceaux.
It was executed around 1830.
