Pair Of Glazed Ceramic Rooster Candlesticks, Signed Ag Roger, 1948
Artist: A.g - Roger
Magnificent and rare/unique pair of stylized rooster candlesticks in glazed ceramic, signed AG Roger 48 under the base, to be identified, vintage workshop handcrafted piece from 1948. Beautiful post-war production with a strong Art Deco aesthetic. The body is covered with a decoration of incised feathers enhanced with hand-painted gilding, and the tail is a wide spiral volute serving as handles. One piece is burgundy red with gilt decoration, the other cobalt blue also enhanced with gold. Very high quality craftsmanship, reminiscent of Vallauris productions of the same period. Height 19cm, length 17.5cm, width 11cm, candle opening diameter approximately 2cm. Very good condition. Note a small, discreet chip in the glaze on one of the eyes of the red rooster and three very small chips inside the opening of the blue candlestick. Approximately 800-900g each.
