Johann Adolf Keppelmann, Iserlohn, circa 1761. Rare snuffbox in remarkable condition with very little wear on the design. On the front, a half-length portrait of Ferdinand (1721-1792), Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg, Prussian general. In a cartouche, a representation of the Battle of Villinghausen, an episode of the Seven Years' War which took place on July 15 and 16, 1761, celebrating the victory of the coalition of Prussia, Great Britain and Hanover against France. On the reverse of the box, the large Prussian state coat of arms, flanked by scenes of the battles at Breslau and Leignitz as well as two medals, on the obverse Frederickus Henricus princeps and on the reverse Frederickus borussorum rex.
