This type of pike emerged particularly under the impetus of Carnot and his famous speech of July 25, 1792, known as the "Speech of the Three Hundred Thousand Pikes." It was produced as an emergency measure in the national workshops, which in Paris welcomed numerous blacksmiths from the provinces to quickly equip the revolutionary armies.
