Rare Demoniac Hand Candlestick, Witch & Hippogriff, High-quality Bronze, 19thc

Superb hand candlestick, also called a "Chambrière" in French. Made of superb quality bronze, it depicts a demoniac and fantastical subject. A witch is preparing a potion in a cauldron decorated with a cabalistic procession. She and the cauldron are mounted on the back of a Hippogriff, or some other fantastical creature. High quality casting, lovely brown patina, well-executed details.
Excellent condition. No chips or cracks, some excess of purple wax. European working, probably French, dating from the second half of the 19th century, circa 1860-1880.
