Unsigned bronze with brown patina, marble base (one small chip). Subject undoubtedly inspired by a tanagra in the Naples museum and by the character of "triboulet" by Victor Hugo in the play "Le Roi s'amuse" (The King is Amused), a play banned from the second performance. Barye never signed the model for this bronze. Total height 20cms
