Large Marian Processional Banner – 19th Century
Cream silk banner, double-sided with extensive embroidery and bullion work. It is edged with gold thread. The richly draped Virgin Mary rests on a crescent moon and is surrounded by vegetal scrolls with Eucharistic motifs, executed in gold metallic thread.
On the reverse, the Marian monogram is surmounted by twelve stars, in reference to the vision of the "woman crowned with twelve stars" (Revelation 12:1).
Used condition – silk is worn in several places.
