"Saint Joan Of France - Dressed Wax Figure From Nancy - 18th Century "

Saint Joan of France, also called Joan of Valois (1464-1505), was the daughter of Louis XI and Queen Charlotte of Savoy. After the annulment of her marriage to Louis XII, the queen founded the Order of the Annunciades. In our fine representation, she receives the ring, one of her three attributes, which is handed to her by a young girl.
Two wax figures are therefore present, Saint Joan dressed in an azure satin dress with patches evoking ermine, and an elegantly dressed young girl.
A canopy of old-pink satin edged with gilding dominates the scene.
The whole is placed in a quality gilded wooden frame. A work of the Nancy workshops of the 18th century.
Dimensions: 35 cm by 25 and 5 cm deep.
