Pair Of De Waël Table Lamps, France, Circa 2000
Artist: Nicolas De Waël
Pair of table lamps designed by Nicolas de Waël for Fondica, France, circa 2000. Each lamp rests on a finely textured, tripod circular base, surmounted by a slender, hammered stem. A curved side arm supports a cup adorned with stylized plant motifs, in a decorative style reminiscent of a revisited neo-Baroque characteristic of certain French designs from the 1990s. The entire piece is crafted from cast iron covered with gold leaf, accentuating the relief and rich texture. The light fabric shades diffuse a soft light. One of the shades has a slight crease. Manufactured by Fondica, France.
