Early in his career, he worked for Philips Design as an industrial designer. He also worked for Toshiba as head of the design department. Later, he was recruited by Sony as head of industrial design for the European division. In 1984, Georges Mathias created his own design company, Georges Mathias Design, which worked for many renowned companies such as Renault, Hermès and Louis Vuitton. He also taught design at the École Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle in Paris. Georges Mathias is recognized for his functional and aesthetic approach to design, emphasizing simplicity and efficiency. He has received numerous awards for his work, including the Prix de la Ville de Paris in 1983, the Prix de l'Observeur du Design in 1998, and the Prix du Design de la région Île-de-France in 2003. Georges Mathias retired in 2013. His work continues to be recognized and appreciated by design professionals and enthusiasts worldwide.
