Cansado Sideboard By Charlotte Perriand, Circa 1960
Artist: Charlotte Perriand
The "Cansado" sideboard, designed by Charlotte Perriand in 1957, was conceived for the mining town of Cansado in Mauritania. It embodies the functional rigor and refined elegance characteristic of Charlotte Perriand's work. Its mahogany veneer structure houses two contrasting sliding doors, one white and the other black, along with four side drawers. The entire piece rests on a black lacquered metal base, lending lightness and a modern feel. Edition: Steph Simon, 1956-1974.
