Charlotte Perriand Cansado Bench In Mahogany, Circa 1962

Artist: Charlotte Perriand
The "Cansado" bench, designed by Charlotte Perriand, is a true collector's item. Created for the "MIFERMA" company, it furnished the apartments of the company's executives. Its resolutely modern design makes it an essential and easy-to-place piece in any interior. The frame and legs are made of black lacquered steel, topped with 13 mahogany slats. The cushions are upholstered in Anthracite wool fabric by Nobilis. Other fabrics are available upon request. Provenance: Executive housing in the Cansado mining town, Mauritania, built in the 1960s by the Mauritanian Iron Mining Company "MIFERMA" to house its staff. Part of the furniture was designed by Charlotte Perriand between 1959 and 1967. Seat height: 35 cm. Steph Simon edition, circa 1959-1967.
