Signed Glazed Ceramic Bowl With A Hollow Rim, Accolay Pottery
Artist: Accolay
An asymmetrical oval bowl, characterized by a rim with an oval perforation in the wall. The speckled glaze, in a palette of molten yellow and red, is enhanced by a turquoise blue border running along the upper edge. The interior features the same molten glaze work, in warm tones. The piece bears the incised signature Accolay under the base, attesting to its authenticity. The Accolay Pottery, founded in the eponymous village in the Yonne region in the 1950s, established itself as a benchmark of post-war French stoneware. Its pieces, recognizable by their brightly colored glazes and organic forms, are currently attracting increasing interest from collectors of Mid-Century ceramics. Glazed ceramic, incised signature under the base.
