Each piece bears on the front the gilded letters "EB" framed by flowering branches in slight relief. The base bears the intaglio mark "EG" corresponding to Émile Gallé, accompanied by a model number ("8014", "8498") and old labels of provenance "Roscoff". This type of decorative earthenware is typical of Gallé's early productions in the 1880s-1890s, notably his collaborations with local earthenware factories.
