Denbac – Monk “liquor Bottle”, Glazed Stoneware, Model No. 607
Artist: Denbac
A charming glazed stoneware bottle-shaped statuette depicting a benevolent monk, from the Denbac factory in Vierzon—one of the leading French ceramic houses of the first half of the 20th century, renowned for its flame-glazed stoneware and its exceptionally well-crafted figurative pieces. The figure, dressed in a wide hooded robe, displays a placid yet mischievous expression. The head is removable, serving as a stopper—a typical feature of these tableware pieces designed for the convivial gatherings of the bourgeoisie in the 1920s and 30s. The base clearly bears the "Denbac" mark along with the model number 607, a guarantee of authenticity and a valuable identifier for collectors. In excellent overall condition, with a glossy glaze and no chips or cracks.
