Pair Of Spelter And Bronze Candlesticks, Children Musicians, 19th Century.

A beautiful pair of large spelter candlesticks depicting two child musicians: a girl playing the mandolin and a boy playing the flute. Each figure is sculpted with precision and rich details.
The girl is draped in a long dress with three-quarter sleeves and a square neckline, and wears a headdress tied on her head.
The boy wears trousers tucked into his boots and a kind of long-sleeved, ruffled surplice. A turban on his head allows fine curls to escape.
This detail demonstrates the exquisite craftsmanship of these statuettes.
Note the well-defined fingers, the loop on the boy's boots, and the graceful folds of the girl's dress.
Each figure rests on a Greek column supported by a base decorated with flowers and composed of three leaves from which three volutes emerge.
The two musicians are seated against a trunk entwined with foliage up to the top of the candlestick, which consists of a simply decorated drip pan.
These two 33 cm tall candlesticks are in very good condition, with a brown patina showing minimal wear and adorned with two bronze decorations at the base and the top of the column supporting the children.
They are a pure example of Art Nouveau and will bring a touch of whimsy to your home.
