Large Square Imari Dish From The 19th Century.

This large dish has a rather unusual shape and is rare in Imari production.
It is a square with four cut corners and a fluted rim.
Measuring 44 cm on each side, it is a significant piece featuring the color palette typical of the Meiji period: a beautiful gradient of orange tones, a subtle yet present cobalt blue, and various other shades of blue.
The design is not strictly classical.
The floral basket in the central design is rendered with vigorous brushwork, featuring an asymmetrical burst of flowers. The rim is adorned with four large reserved areas featuring very different motifs opposite one another: a landscape with a bridge and probably a Japanese maple, and on the other side, a fantastical composition that appears to conceal an octopus.
The overall effect is harmonious thanks to the softness of the tones.
The back is simply decorated with blue geometric motifs, and the rim of the dish is delicately circled on both sides in the same shade.
The piece is in perfect condition, with no cracks or chips, and has a beautiful luster.
