Pair Of Louis XIV Silver-plated Metal Candlesticks
A pair of early 18th-century candlesticks, still in the Louis XIV style, with a very simple decoration, perfectly in keeping with the austerity of the end of the reign. Indeed, there is no engraving on either the candle holder or the stem; a double line adorns the base, which has a hole on the side for collecting the wax for remelting. The scarcity of candlesticks is evident. Cast in two pieces (with a seam on the stem), the silver plating is quite worn, but this only adds to the charm of these rare relics of a difficult time; they polish easily. The model is uncommon, almost a historical document.
