Elegant young man, painted miniature dressed in a dark frock coat, a white waistcoat. The tie tied very high, the hairstyle still in 'dog ears' indicates to us that we are during the consulate or the empire. The miniature seems faded, it is not at all: it is the glass which is of the period, curved, and a little bad (the old glass breaks down into its original elements frequently) which harms the reading of the portrait.
