Artist: Paul René Schutzenberger, Mulhouse 1860- Paris 1916
Paul René Schutzenberger trained at the Académie Julian under Jean Paul Laurens. He exhibited at the SAF (Société des Artistes Français) from 1889, at the Salon des Indépendants from 1902, and at the SNBA (Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts) from 1906. His drawings are in a Japonisme style, close to that of the Nabis artists. Signed lower right with a monogram and his studio stamp. The work is on paper bearing a striking watermark from the Republic of Colombia, dated 1892.
