"maid Of France", Oil On Canvas By Lilian Coket
Artist: Lilian Coket Née Decize, Paris 1912-1970
An extraordinary artist, with her Buddhist name: Sister Mirananda, Gopi of Jesus and Yogananda. She posed as a model at the Jullian Academy for a sculpture by André Del Debbio who encouraged her to paint. She exhibited regularly at the Salon des Indépendants during the 50s and 60s. On his death, after a funeral at the Evangelical Church, a Puja was then celebrated at the ABS Chapel in Perreux. Often in the fourth dimension his hallucinatory paintings exude a certain fascination. Signed lower left: Lilian Coket 1951, titled on the reverse: Pucelle de France, Salon label probably Les Indépendants in 1951.
