Presumed Portrait Of Hortense Mancini Attributed To Jacob Ferdinand Voet
Artist: Jacob Ferdinand Voet, 1639-1689
The identity of the figure and the painter remains open to discussion.
This is a work on its original canvas, whose stretcher has been modified in the past: in height by the addition of a cleat, in width by the reduction of a post, probably to fit a frame. These modifications are visible on the front of the painting in a network of cracks and deformations, especially at the top. On the reverse, we can see 3 pieces corresponding to the restoration of 3 small missing pieces. Pictorial retouching is minimal.
Louis XIV style frame, 20th century.
