Pinchbeck Cannetille And Bull's Eye Agate Bracelet, Georgian Period
This superb Georgian (1714-1830) articulated link bracelet is made of pinchbeck metal, worked with cannetille rosettes and floral discs. It features five cabochons of zoned agate, each cut to reveal a bull's-eye pattern.
Each cabochon is claw-set with a palmette motif within an oval frame of rosettes and floral discs.
The central cabochon is interspersed with two elongated motifs of the same design. The invisible ratchet clasp is integrated into one of the cabochon motifs.
The pinchbeck metal is beautifully lustrous with a lovely gold hue, and the connecting rings are made of plain metal.
The clasp is fully functional. A superb collector's piece that is perfectly wearable!
Pinchbeck (or peinchebec) is an alloy of copper (89-93%) and zinc (7-11%), imitating gold, invented in the early 18th century by the English watchmaker Christopher Pinchbeck.
