"Baroque Monstrance In Silver And Vermeil, Italy, 18th Century "
Baroque silver monstrance (approx. 670g, hallmarks unidentified) and gilt silver. Italy, 18th century. Cast, repoussé, and chased silver, partially gilded (vermeil). Resting on a wide, circular base richly decorated with relief scrolls and rocaille motifs, the baluster stem is adorned with a sculpted angel in the round supporting the upper section. The radiant glory features alternating straight and flamboyant rays, characteristic of the late Baroque style. The lunette is preserved within its molded circular frame, surrounded by applied decorative elements. The fire gilding (vermeil) is partially worn, particularly on the rays. Signs of use consistent with age. Overall in good condition. The case in blue velvet is later, probably XX Century.
