Christ In Carved Ivory XVII/xviiith Century
Large carved ivory Christ. The head of Christ is raised towards the sky, his wavy hair rests on the shoulders. The horizontally pleated perizonium descends on its right side. His feet are side by side, knees barely bent, hands have folded fingers. Very fine sculpture with a beautiful dark honey-coloured patina. Presented in an oval 18th century frame in carved and gilded wood Dimension of Christ height 28 cm and width 20 cm. 18th century frame in molded oak, carved and gilded, decorated with a row of pearls and a row of ovals, small lack, cracks, wear to the gilding, all in good condition. The Christ is fixed on a mahogany panel covered with a faded pink velvet (small lack) old repair to a toe of Christ. Height 49 cm, width 44 cm.
