Christ on the cross is in another type of wood (probably fruit or walnut)
At the foot of the cross, in keeping with the iconographic tradition of Golgotha, is Adam's skull, finely carved in the round.
The titulus at the top bears the classy inscription "INRI" on a scrolled parchment
The cross rests on a moving rocaille base adorned in the center with a winged cherub face, foliate scrolls and broad volutes.
Probably a private devotional piece
