Biedermeier Sofa, Germany, Circa 1830
Biedermeier settee veneered in mahogany and accented with fine string inlay along the frame. The multi-curved backrest is decorated with inlaid foliate scroll motifs. The armrests rest on S-shaped supports with stylized volute decoration, while the legs are likewise elaborately curved. The seat, armrests, and backrest have been newly upholstered in a black striped fabric. The frame has been professionally restored and hand-polished.
