"Kazakh Rug - Caucasus. Early 20th Century. 215 X 136 Cm"
In a near-miraculous state of preservation, a sumptuous rug originating from the Caucasus. Woven and knotted wool on wool in the traditional manner. The knotted pile is rather short, as is typical of most antique Caucasian rugs. The central field displays a wide variety of indigo blue with wonderful abrash highlights. The dyes are exclusively vegetable-based, with a beautiful depth and luminosity due to the very high quality of the dyes, which are both dense and saturated in places. Circa 1900-1920. In very, very fine condition! Dimensions: 215 x 136 cm. Laurent Beauty of Kilims
