French School, Late 19th Century : "cupid And The Lovers"

French School, late 19th century: "Cupid and the Lovers," oil on canvas, 43 x 26 cm, mounted in a worn and damaged German gilt half-round frame, 46 x 29 cm.
The canvas has been repaired at the bottom, which is in need of restoration.
Numerous craquelures need reattaching, with small losses at the intersections. It also needs cleaning.
I couldn't have chosen a better day than Valentine's Day to offer this painting for sale !
Surprised by her lover, who covers her eyes with his hands to play a trick on her under Cupid's watchful eye, the young woman in a pink dress, who was arranging a bouquet, tries to free herself by turning her head away.
