A female figure in a long blue dress and hat, rendered with softened contours and a light, delicate line. The figure is evanescent, like a vision. The blue suggests a poetic and dreamlike atmosphere, while the red pen highlights certain details with more vibrant accents. The work belongs to the Franco-Spanish translation of Surrealism, with reminiscences of the softness and sfumato typical of the Spanish imaginary.
This drawing is part of a collection of over one hundred works by the artist, probably resulting from the union of two portfolios: one dedicated to female figures, and another focused on geometric and futuristic research linked to the fourth dimension.
About the artist: Antonio Monasterio (1915–1983), born in Tenerife and primarily active in southern France, developed a pictorial language combining surreal and symbolic elements with reflections on science and mathematics. One of the original folders bears the title of a sequence of drawings: “Quatrième Dimension”, a direct reference to his futuristic representations and visual investigations of space.
