Exceptional testimony of the sculptor and painter from La Ferté Macé, Marcel Pierre, which represents a view of the soldiers of the 132nd Infantry Regiment in a trench at Mesnil Saint Georges on March 30, 1918 during the First World War. A testament to his regiment, in which he served during the war.
The drawing is precise, and the artist pays particular attention to every detail.
This work was created in 1929 when the artist Marcel Pierre became director of the drawing school in La Ferté-Macé.

Marcel Pierre spent his entire career as a painter and sculptor in La Ferté-Macé.
From 1910, Marcel Pierre was taken under the wing of the painter and decorator Louis Orhant to further develop his talent for drawing. When war was declared, he was drafted in 1916 into the 5th Infantry Regiment, then into the 132nd Infantry Regiment. In 1918, he was wounded and returned to his hometown. This period of his life influenced his work.
A discreet artist, he created 13 World War I memorials, War Remembrance Monuments in unbombed towns, wayside crosses, 25 religious works, paintings, and statues.
He also created several tombstones for the cemetery in his hometown.
In 1929, Marcel Pierre became director of the municipal drawing school.
In 1951, he became curator of the municipal museum, and from 1955 to 1967, he was a member of the Ferté Macé town council.
