Exceptional and rare self-portrait of the Cannes painter, Louis Pastour in bright colors. This work seems to have been created by the artist, according to the notes on the back of the panel, in 1926 in Entrevaux.
The large red sail sharp as a wing, its typical boats, the light of the sky, of the sea... immerse us in the air of old Cannes from the belle époque. Worker by day and student in the evening classes at the School of Decorative Arts in Nice and then Paris, he exhibited for the first time at the age of 45.
In 1902, he founded with a group of workers passionate about art: the Association of Fine Arts of Cannes of which he is the general secretary.
Through this association, the painters of the region are highlighted by an annual exhibition. Painter of light with a total mastery of colors, Louis Pastour uses the knife technique to bring his works to life.
Recognized by critics as a poet painter because of the names of poems they give to his works: Fête de soleil, Reflets d'or, Gloire au matin …
Dimensions: Diameter: 20 cm visible without frame and 43 x 43 cm with its modern wooden frame.
