Ink drawing on paper, dated. Charming drawing depicting a port view in Eponamia, Greece, dated 1955. The scene shows several small boats at anchor in a peaceful bay, bordered by rocky outcrops characteristic of the Mediterranean coastline. A few figures enlivening the quay suggest the tranquil life of the port. The artist adopts a very refined, almost calligraphic, graphic style, reducing the landscape to its essence through a play of fine, delicate lines. This economy of means lends the work a great deal of poetry and a remarkable clarity of space, evoking the spirit of travel journals from the 1950s. The drawing accurately captures the light and serenity of the Greek coast, in a timeless atmosphere, somewhere between direct observation and personal interpretation. Work dated 1955 in the lower right corner.
