"Porcelain Plate From The Imperial Factory Of Vienna, Late 18th Century "
A very fine porcelain plate from the Imperial Porcelain Manufactory of Vienna, late 18th century. The rim of the plate is decorated with a polychrome motif of four cabochons featuring cupids and sphinxes, interspersed with a scrolling foliage motif, the center of which is marked by a smoking urn. The whole is embellished with burnished gilt borders. Some of these motifs are borrowed from the Sèvres Manufactory. The Imperial Porcelain Manufactory of Vienna (Austria), from 1784 the manufactory was directed by Conrad von Sorgenthal (1735-1805). The plate is in good condition with only a few very slight signs of wear (see photos).
