Important Italian walnut cassone in the Renaissance style.
Exquisitely carved on the front and sides with faun heads, female seahorses surrounding an angel's head, and floral scrolls, entirely in the spirit of Renaissance sculpture.
It rests on lion's paw feet and is heavily molded. The top has an old graft.
The walnut has a beautiful patina.

A very fine 19th-century Italian cassone, perfectly in keeping with the Renaissance style.

An ideal storage piece at the foot of a bed, under a window, or in a hallway.
