Chiseled Brass Ciborium - 17th Century
Our Lombard ciborium is made of repoussé and gilded brass. Its circular base features medallions with the instruments of the Passion, its knop is shaped like a vase adorned with florets and discs on the stem, the cup is decorated with a large foliate design, and the domed lid is decorated with floral reserves and garlands. It has a floral cross at the top. An Italian work from the Milan region. Dimensions: 30.5 cm.
In good condition. Note that a similar ciborium is held in the collections of the Museum of Applied Arts in Milan.
