Jean-baptiste Gaziello, Miniature Art Nouveau Vase In Iridescent Stoneware
Artist: Jean-baptiste Gaziello
A trilobed neck and twisted curve characterize this miniature vase with its iridescent glaze, predominantly purple to violet with touches of copper and green.
Jean-Baptiste Gaziello (1871-1957), from his apprenticeship with Jérôme Massier and later in his own workshop founded in Vallauris in 1910, distinguished himself by his mastery of glazes with a luster effect and metallic reflections.
This vase offers a beautiful example, on the precious scale of a miniature, whose form and the effects of color and texture combine to evoke flows of lava.
Signed on the body in gold paint "JG Vallauris".
"120" and "69" (or "GG" to indicate a collaboration between Gaziello and the decorator Guiol?) appear twice under the glaze beneath the base.
Circa 1915.
Very good condition
