Denbac, Art Nouveau Covered Pot, Stoneware And Metal
Art Nouveau stoneware pot with a relief decoration of a vegetal motif of leaves extending into a scroll on the lid's handle.
Rare electroplated decoration of a metallic layer in bronze to old gold color partially covering the ceramic, forming in places a fine mesh-like pattern.
The glaze is a characteristic flamed stoneware of Denbac production.
Tobacco leaves? Or perhaps inspired by Japanese tea powder tins or "cha-ire".
Unsigned, the number "34" is impressed under the base for the model.
Circa 1915.
Good condition – small chip on the inner edge of the lid; the metal foil is slightly peeling in two places (see photos).
