Artist: Jérome Massier (1850-1916)
Series of 3 pot covers of decreasing size (diameter 30 cm, 23.5 cm and 18.5 cm) flamed enamels Vallauris brand J.MASSIER. ' “MASSIER (Jérôme, Clément, Delphin, Cédric) are a family dynasty of ceramists which goes back beyond the French Revolution and which played a key role in the revival of ceramics in Vallauris. A veritable dynasty, the Massiers were mentioned in Vallauris in 1627. Honoré Massier, born in 1782, had two sons: Jérôme and Jacques. Jacques Massier (1806-1871) has two sons: Delphin (1836-1907) and Clément (1844-1917). Jérôme (1820-1909) has a son: Jean-Baptiste (1850-1916), known as Jérôme Massier Fils. The Massiers have called on renowned artists to come and work with them: the Swiss sculptor James Vibert (1872-1942), Opta Milet, ceramist from Sèvres, and the painters Lucien Lévy-Durhmer, and Jules Scalbert, etc. The factory of Jérôme Massier Fils (1820-1909) will be sold to P.Perret on May 3, 1899.” In good condition, the lot of three vases 370 E.
