Emile Gallé, Earthenware Crumb Collector With Japanese-inspired Decoration
Crumb scoop and matching brush in earthenware with a Japanese-inspired decoration of plum blossoms, executed in a palette reminiscent of Imari porcelain.
Two bronze nails, themselves crafted as stylized flower buds, secure the bristles to the earthenware mount.
Made at the Saint-Clément pottery factory.
Handwritten signature in brown enamel "St Clément" followed by "G" under the scoop.
Circa 1880.
Good condition – small chip around the rim on the underside of the scoop; small chips around the rim of the brush handle, see photos.
