A rare white-glazed Chelsea scent bottle, circa 1760, of a boy holding a goat by the horns from the other side of a tree stump adorned with vine leaves and grapes, the stopper a pair of billing doves, with a concave base. 7 cm (2.8 in) high.
Notes: This model appears to have been sold either with metal mounts or without. Another example without them may be found in The British Museum (reference below). The stopper of the pair of billing doves is probably Chelsea too, being found on other examples of their scent bottles. A very similar, hard-paste example by the Kelsterbach Porcelain Manufactory was produced in the same period.
Condition: Very good for age and type. A few minor losses to vine leaf ends. No restoration found under ultraviolet light.
